Indiens ambassade i København er den eneste indiske diplomatiske mission i Danmark og dækker landet i sin helhed. Der er ingen separat indisk generalkonsulat; Ambassaden er det eneste adgangspunkt for visum-, pas-, OCI- og konsulære tjenester for danske bosatte af indisk oprindelse og for danske ansøgere, der rejser til Indien. Kancelliet ligger på Vangehusvej 15 i centralt-østlige København, i Østerbro-kvarteret nær Fælledparken og Søerne.
For danske passindehavere deler Indien-rejsen sig i to enkle kanaler: størstedelen af korte rejser kører på e-Visa-programmet (danske statsborgere er berettiget til Indiens fulde e-Visa-udvalg — e-Tourist Visa i 30-dages, 1-årig og 5-årig variant, e-Business Visa, e-Conference Visa, e-Medical Visa, e-Medical Attendant Visa og Ayush e-Visa), indleveret direkte online på indianvisaonline.gov.in / ivisa.gov.in uden VAC- eller ambassadekontakt. Ambassaden træder ind for visumkategorier uden for e-Visa-ordningen — langtidsansættelsesvisum, journalistvisum, forskningsvisum, missionærvisum, projektvisum, studentvisum, der overstiger e-Visa-varighedsgrænserne, og indrejsevisum for OCI-kortindehavere.
Bilateral kontekst: Indien-Danmark-handelen er vokset kraftigt gennem det Grønne Strategiske Partnerskab underskrevet i 2020 — en ramme, der forankrer indo-dansk samarbejde inden for grøn energi, vandstyring, bæredygtig udvikling og klimateknologi. Indian visa services for Danish-resident applicants run through three parallel channels. For most short-stay tourism, business and conference visits, the e-Visa programme is the practical answer: Danish passport holders apply directly on the Indian Government's e-Visa portal (indianvisaonline.gov.in / ivisa.gov.in) for the e-Tourist Visa, e-Business Visa, e-Conference Visa, e-Medical and e-Medical Attendant Visa, and the Ayush e-Visa.
For visa categories outside the e-Visa scheme — long-stay Employment Visa (E visa, requiring a sponsor company and demonstrated specialised-skill criterion — common for Danish IT professionals and Green Strategic Partnership-related secondments to Indian operations of Danish corporates), Journalist Visa (J visa), Research Visa (R visa), Missionary Visa, Project Visa, Student Visa exceeding e-Visa duration limits, and entry visas for OCI cardholders and family members — applicants file at the Indian Visa Application Centre in Copenhagen. The Embassy is the decisioning post. Standard processing is four to six working days from the file's arrival at the Embassy.
The third channel — direct embassy filing — applies to diplomatic visas, official visas, gratis-fee categories and emergency replacement visas.

The Embassy's consular section serves the Indian-origin community in Denmark across the full consular pipeline. Indian passport services include renewal and replacement of Indian passports for Indian-citizen residents in Denmark, the tatkal urgent-issue service and emergency travel certificates. The OCI pipeline runs at moderate volume: new OCI applications, renewal of OCI cards, miscellaneous OCI services and lost / damaged OCI card replacement. Document attestation and apostille services are processed at the consular counter — Denmark and India are both parties to the Hague Apostille Convention, so Danish civil-status documents now require only a Danish apostille. The Embassy issues PCC (Police Clearance Certificates) for Indian citizens applying for residence or naturalisation in Denmark.
The Indian community in Denmark is concentrated around IT-sector employment (TCS, Infosys, Wipro, HCL Danish operations primarily in Copenhagen and Aarhus), Green Strategic Partnership-related secondments at Vestas, Ørsted, Grundfos, FLSmidth Danish HQ operations with Indian-rotated staff, healthcare workers in the Danish public healthcare system, and Indian students at the University of Copenhagen, Aarhus University, DTU (Technical University of Denmark), Copenhagen Business School and Aalborg University. The cultural-and-education programming runs through the Embassy's ICCR link and the Tagore Cultural Centre at the Embassy.

The Embassy at Vangehusvej 15 sits in central-eastern Copenhagen's Østerbro district near Fælledparken and the Lakes, walking distance from Nordhavn S-tog station and Trianglen metro station. Approach by metro (M3 Cityringen, Trianglen stop), bus or taxi. Visitors must present valid government-issued photo identification (passport, Danish CPR-card / kørekort, Indian passport / OCI / Aadhaar) and pass a security screening. The Embassy observes both Indian and Danish public holidays: Republic Day (26 January), Independence Day (15 August), Gandhi Jayanti (2 October), the major Hindu festivals (Diwali, Holi, Dussehra) and Muslim festivals (Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Adha), plus Danish national days (Constitution Day 5 June, Whit Monday, Maundy Thursday / Good Friday / Easter Monday, Christmas Eve / Day, New Year, Ascension Day).
Practical context for Danish travellers heading to India: the e-Visa programme covers the overwhelming majority of leisure and short-business travel. Apply at least four working days before departure for standard e-Visa processing. For longer-stay categories — particularly Employment Visas for Danish IT professionals at multinational Indian operations or Green Strategic Partnership secondments — the VAC route is the practical answer. The Indian Embassy in Beijing covers Mongolia by accreditation; this Embassy in Copenhagen has no comparable additional accreditation. The Danish Embassy in New Delhi is the reciprocal Danish post for Danes in India; this Copenhagen embassy serves the Danish outbound flow and the Indian inbound community in Denmark.
